Since taking over as the Web Administrator for V3, my primary goal was, and is, to make our page as useful and informative as possible for our community.
I am by no means a professional web designer, so it has taken some time for me to become familiar with the program (DRUPAL) that is used as the backbone structure of the site.
When I initially started the easiest way to add menu links was simply to keep adding the menu item on the right side of the page. This works, but in doing so it takes up space on the page that could better be used to display content like larger pictures, easier to read text, etc.
In order to "reclaim" the space under the current Navigation Menu, I have begun to move these menu entries to the main menu at the top of the screen. Entries will be categorized and grouped. Drop downs, under the categories, will display subordinate entries.
For example, if you click on "V3 Associations Info" a drop down will appear with V3 Associations Officers, Board Meeting Schedule, Board Meeting Minutes, and Association Documents, etc. If you further highlight "Board Meeting Minutes", a additional drop down will appear for each association. The same for Association Documents. (Please remember that only "Registered" users, who have logged in, will be able to view Board or Rec committee minutes. The menu option for minutes will NOT appear otherwise)
The "V3 Current Events" menu will now have a page containing news and current events previously displayed on the left side of the front page.
This menu effort will create a page layout that more closely resembles the menu layouts of most on-line web pages.
My hope is that it will give the V3 site a cleaner look, still be user friendly.
